[DM - Old]
>>The Naugrim reached into his pouch and kneeled down at the same
time.
>>"Arden of the clan Stonefister I am. 'Tis welcoming to see another
>>who is in favour of the Valar like myself..."
[Brenna - New]
Brenna nodded to the dwarf and watched as he applied various herbs.
She only had a rudimentary knowledge of the healing affects of plants
- her mother was much better at herbology than her. But Brenna knew
enough to know that these herbs would help the halfling.
However, her eyes grew wide as she saw how fast the wound healed under
the administrations of the dwarf. Indeed, it appeared this Arden was
blessed by the Valar as well. Although Brenna seemed to remember some
tale about how a herbs power could be enhanced if used by those with
royal blood. Perhaps this Arden was a noble within his clan?
"Blessed Yavanna. Thank you, Arden of the clan Stonefister", was all
Brenna could say.
[Cuthain - Old]
>"Well..." Cuthain replied slowly, still smiling.
>"I probably have some dried meat or some such in my pack.
>But are you sure you should eat so soon?"
>The scout cast a questioning glance at Arden and Brenna.
>If anyone would know how soon the hobbit should eat, it was they.
>Turning back to Bailey, he added "What say we wait until
>you've healed a little bit more then we'll find a meal for us all?"
[Brenna - New]
Brenna put a hand to the hobbit's forehead to feel his temperature and
to keep him from moving. He had been raving about something to do with
young chickens digging scars in the ground. Perhaps the rapid healing
had caused a fever to boil in the halfling's blood.
"No, Master Bailey. Yer should rest a little as t' dwarf says. Let yer
flesh knit together fully first. Yer lucky to have one so gifted in
the healing arts nearby. Me own gifts were doing little to close the
wound"
"Food will wait. First, once the wound has settle we should get yer to
the house of healing in this city. They'll make sure yer healed fully.
Then we'll tell the city guards about the assassins. Whilst we wait a
moment, I'll tell yer what I saw".
Brenna went on to tell them that she'd heard Bailey cry for help, had
headed up the stairs and met a black cloaked man. Confronting him, he
had fallen on her and then got away. She had then met and fought the
two dwarves attacking Bailey. Bailey had defended himself well (very
well in fact) but, in the end, had been injured. She had to let the
dwarves go in order to help the hobbit.
She then turned to Arden.
"D'yer think we can move the halfling now? He should get t' the House
of Healing as soon as possible. I have a horse in the stables he can
use".
Steve/Brenna.

"...and so the one who had poisoned us had apparently been that woman
over there", Andrade pointed out Nikita to Aragorn, "She had confessed this
is so."
King Elessar watched the woman now, his gaze leveled apon her. Nikita
had moved towards Lennier's side and seemed about to make a motion to hide
behind him, like a child would for protection with a parent.
It was Alatar who spoke. "That matter, dear King..." Alatar exclaimed as
he forced himself up to his feet (Arthwen had now been there to help him),
"... is now for Andrade the White to judge."
"Me?" Andrade asked. She looked disgusted and confused at the same time.
Alatar just smirked a little but said nothing.
Andrade sighed her resignation but also said nothing.
After a moment, King Elessar interrupted the tension. "Well, if friends
of the new Grey Wizard you are, then you are welcome guests. I was about to
eat when I heard noises in here. I came to investigate and of course found
all of you. Won't you join me?" Aragorn's eyes then rested once more apon
Nikita, once more apon Lennier, and then finally on Andrade. "You had best
resolve this matter of judgment now before you join us. I shall send guards
right away. Use them as you decide."
OOC: Assuming nothing else occurs...
IC:
King Elessar turned to leave the room, and with him followed Aeren,
Faerindel, Sir Fairbane, and Qadar. Alatar had to shoo Arthwen and Anarsil
to follow them. He remained behind and seated himself at the table. He was
more than 200 feet away, but within earshot. Nevertheless, Andrade had
spoken quietly to both Lennier and Nikita after she stepped closer to them.
She still held her sword but it was in a restful kind of position, the sword
tip taking the weight of itself apon on the floor.
"Explain yourselves. I want to know the why, and why you have confessed.
What has changed your mind?" Andrade asked.

Arden had blushed when Brenna had thanked him, which was a strange thing
coming from a dwarf... if one was inclined to know what entailed "strange"
about dwarves, of course...
Arden had also answered Cuthain's question about the meal: Arden
declined it for Bailey.
[Brenna - Old]
She then turned to Arden. "D'yer think we can move the halfling now? He
should get t' the House of Healing as soon as possible. I have a horse in
the stables he can

[DM - New]
Arden nodded agreement. "Aye, take him to the Houses we should. He's
well enough to be moved."
He looked down apon the Halfling and helped him up to his feet, but
Arden had remained there to be support for him. "Luck is with you in many
ways today. You better not push it. You're alive and leave it at that. Tread
carefully, now..."
OOC: if there is nothing else, I could post your arrival at the Houses of
Healing?
Also: Isillome, depending apon this, I shall post your arrival accordingly
as well...

"Explain yourselves. I want to know the why, and why you have confessed.

[Lennier - New]
Lennier couldn't help a slightly sarcastic and condescending look cross his
face."Oh, for crying out loud," he moaned inwardly. "If I had known that
Alatar would appoint this woman as judge...Quarikt is going to owe me big
time."
Lennier chose to meet the woman's "authority" with measured defiance. "I
notice no city guard insignia nor any commission from His Majesty on your
person. So I fail to see how we are accountable to you. Nevertheless, I give
answer because it amuses me to do so.
"First, I have already explained myself. When I arrived at the Wizard and
King to apply for this mission to Moria, I found the lady Nikita here
attacked on all sides. I intervened to prevent harm to her because you,
among others, were doing nothing. When those assassins showed up, we entered
the fray and took the way of escape that the wizard -- I assume that it's
Alatar -- provided.
"As to the lady here, who gives a tinker's damn why she changed her mind?
What's important is that she did. Or have you been so wrapped up in
self-righteousness for so long that you have forgotten how to do a misdeed,
and then to repent? If so, you've lost a great deal of your humanity and
have therefore lost any authority to stand as judge over us. If not, you can
drop your self righteous tone and presumed authority, sheath your sword, and
hear the lady out with something approaching sympathy.

And so Cuthain and Brenna prepared to leave the Wizard and King. They
gathered the Halfling Bailey as well as Brenna's horse, and then had been
about to set forth when the sound of rapid hoofbeats could be heard
approaching.
A human woman and an Elven Lord (as evidenced by his garb) was fast
gaining ground towards the trio that was leaving the stables that served the
Wizard and King Inn. However, it seemed their destination was bound for
whatever was beyond the Inn.
Isillome saw a wounded Halfling seated apon a horse. Beside that was two
more people who seemed in the midst of helping the Halfling. Lord Elladan's
attention was set for the destination of the Guesthouse, which only lay a
few doors down from the Wizard and King Inn...
OOC: OK, pass them up, slow down, or something else?

[Brenna - New]
There was no-one outside the inn as Brenna and the others left. So the
sudden approach of two figures on horseback caught Brenna's attention.
She did not know the city well and was not sure of the direction they
should be heading. The two approaching looked in a hurry and of
nobility but surely they would help their cause.
Brenna stepped forward, head held high, her left arm raised up in a
stopping gesture and hailed the two travellers.
"My lord! We're in need of aid and directions. This halfling and
meself have fought assassins in the inn and t' halfling is badly
injured. Can you tell us the direction of a house of healing?"
Brenna hoped the two on horseback would stop and help, even just for a
moment. Still, they appeared in a rush...?
Steve/Brenna.

[Isillome-New]
Isillome checked Star Dancer forward movement as the woman stepped
out in front of the galloping horses. She almost slide from his back
as the horse rose up on his back legs and pawed at the air in front.
"It is as I feared, milord. Here are more targets of the
assassins." Turning to the woman she asked as she dismounted to
check on the hobbit, "Are the assassins still in there? Did any
escape?"
Isillome looked at the hobbit's wound but it looked as though it had
already been tended beyond her own meager skills to assist. "You are
most fortunate Shireling. " She gave directions to the Houses of
Healing and added, "Inform the City Guard of the attack here, you may
see several out and about as the alarm has just been raised to the
danger."

She smiled at the hobbit. "Maybe. I stop in Bree from time to
time. Never actually been inside the Shire; but before the war I was
occasionally a scout along the Shire's borders. Of course, if you
saw me there, then I wasn't doing my job right."

[Cuthain - New]
Cuthain glanced around, unease upon him. From the conversation it was
obvious that the assassins had struck at more than just the Inn. He gazed at
the neighboring buildings, any number of which could house an enemy with a
bow or crossbow. And if those arrows or bolts were coated with poison, it
would take a miracle indeed for any wounded to arrive at their
destination...
As the conversation continued, Cuthain found his instincts nagging him more
and more intensely. Finally he could stay quiet no longer...
Interrupting the conversation, the scout bowed slightly to the new arrivals
and said softly "Forgive my int eruption, but would it not be better to get
our wounded friend here to the House of Healing? I'm sure we shall have time
to talk once we've gotten help for him there...and to be honest, I dislike
being out in the open with so many enemies about. I saw one leave the Inn as
I arrived, though our good friend Bailey here did dispatch one inside..."

[Lennier - Old]
"As to the lady here, who gives a tinker's damn why she changed her
mind? What's important is that she did. Or have you been so wrapped up in
self-righteousness for so long that you have forgotten how to do a misdeed,
and then to repent? If so, you've lost a great deal of your humanity and
have therefore lost any authority to stand as judge over us. If not, you can
drop your self righteous tone and presumed authority, sheath your sword, and
hear the lady out with something approaching sympathy."
[DM - New]
Andrade waited for Lennier to finish, and when he did she took a deep
breath and shook her head.
"If you think I am for wanting this kind of duty then you're mistaken"
Andrade claimed. "As for my stance and bearing, it is your friend after all
who had poisoned the drink? Yes, that was her claim. And yet you would have
me drop my guard and become ever trustful on her word - only because she
says she repents? So I am blessed with the vision and faith of the Valar. If
that is something to be derided at and shamed for in your view, then so be
it."
Andrade addressed Nikita now. "Barring any other very recent
considerations or accusations, it is my estimation that the best way to show
your repentance is to show it. Prove it. Not to me, not to your friend, and
certainly not to Alatar..." Andrade motioned towards the Grey Wizard for
Lennier's sake. "Do it for yourself."
Andrade then placed the tip of her sword into it's sheath. "And so by
doing this I leave any judgment until further notice..." She then slide the
blade into the sheath up to the hilt. "Be warned that I shall be watchful
for treachery as well as signs of repentance."
She then looked back at Lennier, and said with a smirk, "Is that good
enough or do I need to sing an Opera as well?"

[Brenna - Old]
"My lord! We're in need of aid and directions. This halfling and meself
have fought assassins in the inn and t' halfling is badly injured. Can you
tell us the direction of a house of healing?"
[DM - New]
Just as Isillome slowed down as fast as she could, so too did the elven
lord do the same. Lord Elladan exclaimed, "Assassins!?" after mention of the
attackers.
As the others talked, Elladan looked ill at ease.
[Bailey - Old]
Bailey pointed back to the inn. "At least I killed one of the assassins
working for Dorrd. He'll die at my hands, this I swear."
[Cuthain - Old]
"Forgive my interruption, but would it not be better to get our wounded
friend here to the House of Healing? I'm sure we shall have time to talk
once we've gotten help for him there..."
[DM - New]
Lord Elladan remarked, "This Dorrd is not legitimate, then. That is most
obvious to say the least... You shall have your revenge, Halfling, of that I
can see in your eyes."
He looked at Isillome. "Quickly, then! Our enemies are already at work
and we are steps behind! I can bring the Halfling to the Houses." He looked
at the other two, Brenna and Cuthain. "We are looking for our companions who
may be victim to these assassins. Isillome rides to find her sister and
companions and she should not go alone."
Lord Elladan cantered his horse closer to Brenna's steed to get a better
look at the Halfling's injuries.

[Cuthain - NEW]
Cuthain grinned momentarily at Bailey's actions in spite of his best
efforts not to do so. The smile quickly faded, though and within his mind
the words of the noble repeated. *Our enemies are already at
work and we are steps behind!* The scout could feel the fire burning in his
veins, reminding him of the past. Once such words had sent him into
battle...now they made his heart race and his mind fiercely clear. His
shoulders straightened and his eyes burned with a hidden strength not
evident to the casual observer. If the innocent were in harms way, he would
do all he could to find and protect them...
Turning to the noble, Cuthain bowed slightly. "I am Cuthain, M'lord, and if
you would help our wounded friend to his destination, I would be honored to
accompany the Lady if she so wishes." He nodded once in greeting to
Isillome.
Cuthain turned to Brenna questioningly, wondering if she would leave
Bailey.

Brenna thanked the lord and lady for stopping to assist, although she
was somewhat surprised by their reaction.
"There've been other attacks by assassins in the city? These're bad
tidings indeed!", she exclaimed.
Brenna wondered whether coming to Minas Tirith was a good idea. Still,
if this was where the Valar wanted her to be then so be it. And whilst
she was here she should give aid to those that required it.

She looked at the hobbit.
"I would advise seeing the healers first. Yer wound was severe even
though Arden here has worked miracles. It appears healed but may
reopen if yer move yer head too much. But I can't stop you if you wish
to join us. Just try and stay out of trouble!"
Brenna shook her head. She knew the hobbit should rest for a couple of
days but she was not the halfling's keeper. She could not force him to
get his injuries treated if he didn't want to. And anyway, she knew
she would probably do the same as he.
She looked at Lord Elladan.
"Well, it appears we'll all be accompanying you to find this lady's
companions. The assassins we encountered were a man garbed in black
an' two dwarves. Though I've not had the chance t' ask the hobbit why
he thinks they were trying to kill him?"
She raised a bushy, red eyebrow in a questioning manner and glanced at
Bailey.
Steve/Brenna.

[Andrade] then looked back at Lennier, and said with a smirk, "Is that good
enough or do I need to sing an Opera as well?"
[Lennier - New]
Lennier had not expected this response from her. In truth, he wished that
she would have been more belligerent. At least that way, he would know where
he stood with her. But if he read the situation right, he estimated that he
and Nikita were out of danger.
He bowed to Andrade somewhat self-consciously. He looked toward Nikita,
searching her expression to see how she was taking all this. Finally he
spoke: "My name is Lennier Harmagin." He could not help his ambiguous
attitude toward his family emerge as he spoke his patronym. The name he
loathed was perhaps his best hope for eventual success. This galled him. "I
am a tradesman from a lower level of the city. I belong to a minor family
but have been disgraced through a misunderstanding." That misunderstanding
would someday be most remedied, thought Lennier. "I hoped to join the quest
for Moria with Alatar because my purse is light. I am told that Moria holds
great treasures for those who have the mettle -- or the stupidity -- to
enter in. I've not yet learned whether I have stupidity or bravery enough to
attempt the tunnels of the dwarven mountain. But if there are enough others
who are so endowed with whichever virtue suffices, perhaps I can match
them." Lennier hoped that this (somewhat lame) attempt at humour and
self-disclosure might win him at least some confidence from Andrade.
Besides, Alatar was listening in, and he hoped to grab his attention with
his speech.

Hi All!
Some good news!
I've been busy with new player characters and applications the past week or
so. We have new arrivals to the RPG: Rachel Illum, a converted D20 char made
into RM. Also, Faerindel has a new player. Welcome to the game!!
As well, a third one is almost 100%, and I am communicating with a fourth.
I shall post tonight or tomorrow as time permits! :)

The DM does most of the roll-playing and looking after the numbers
whereas we players generally just concentrate on the roleplaying.
I think all that's required is a reasonable knowledge of the
Middle-Earth / Lord of the Rings setting and also know what your
character can or can't do (eg. what spells do they know, what weapons
can they use, what skills are they proficient in, etc).
Steve/Brenna (still thinking of a last name).

OOC: so there's a lot of recapping of previous posts here - just so it makes
linear sense for me...
IC:
[Bailey - Old]
Upon Elladan's approach, Bailey opened his mouth as much as he could
without it hurting and said, "Ahhhhhhhh."
[Cuthain - Old]
Cuthain grinned momentarily at Bailey's actions in spite of his best
efforts not to do so.
[DM - New]
Lord Elladan's eyes widened in apparent dismay. Perhaps it was the shock
of the Halfling's strangeness. Either way, it was short lived. Elladan
laughed despite himself and shook his head. "I can see that you are well
enough in spirit... but your wound does not threaten your life."
[Brenna - Old]
Brenna thanked the lord and lady for stopping to assist, although she
was somewhat surprised by their reaction.
"There've been other attacks by assassins in the city? These're bad
tidings indeed!", she exclaimed.
[Isillome - Old]
"You're is the second attack that I know of, but I fear it won't be the
last." Isillome told her grimly.
[DM - New]
At these mentioned news, Lord Elladan's expression turned around and
became sour. "My guess is that our enemies may have already visited Alatar."
He glanced over at Isillome, communicating the unspoken realization that if
this was true for Alatar, it was most likely true for Isillome's sister.
[Cuthain - Old]
Turning to the noble, Cuthain bowed slightly. "I am Cuthain, M'lord, and
if you would help our wounded friend to his destination, I would be honored
to accompany the Lady if she so wishes." He nodded once in greeting to
Isillome.
Cuthain turned to Brenna questioningly, wondering if she would leave
Bailey.
[Bailey - Old]
Bailey thought about it a moment and then said, "I don't think we should
split up, we'll be weaker if we are attacked. I can wait on the healing, I
believe fate is on my side to see the day through. Come, let us make
haste."
[Brenna - Old]
She looked at the hobbit.
"I would advise seeing the healers first. Yer wound was severe even
though Arden here has worked miracles. It appears healed but may reopen if
yer move yer head too much. But I can't stop you if you wish to join us.
Just try and stay out of trouble!"
[DM - New]
"Aye, the Halfling'll be fine..." Arden remarked. He shrugged and said,
"Go. I'll not slow any of you by coming. I'm not a warrior..."
Lord Elladan nodded. "My thanks, then. Go to the safety of the Houses of
Healing - I doubt our black robed friends will be there."
Arden grunted his agreement.
[Brenna - Old]
She looked at Lord Elladan.
"Well, it appears we'll all be accompanying you to find this lady's
companions. The assassins we encountered were a man garbed in black an' two
dwarves. Though I've not had the chance t' ask the hobbit why he thinks they

[Isillome - Old]
Nodding her head to Brenna and Cuthain she said, "I thank you for your

the noble houses of the Dunedain North or South acclaim me as such. I am
just Isillome. Wether we stay together or split up I shall leave to wiser
heads than mine, but I do fear we must hurry."
[DM - New]
"Off we go!" Lord Elladan announced. He spurred his horse and the steed
gained speed quickly towards the Old Guesthouse.
OOC: assuming everyone follows...
IC:
Only a few store fronts and large buildings away, the Old Guesthouse
loomed into existence. Lord Elladan slowed his horse and looked at the
sight:
There was a small crowd of people milling around the entrance, but there
was a handful of the Watch between them and access to the doors. The Watch
kept them at bay. Near the door was signs of struggle: a stain of blood had
been running down the doorframe (the opened door also shown the same). A
prone and unmoving body of a black robed man lay apon the ground - a mortal
wound had opened his shoulder and the most upper of his body to the world,
though no blood flowed there. A trail followed the body towards the doorway
of the Old Guesthouse. Similar bloody trails, much more shallow in content,
appeared to originate from the doorway and around the building itself. A
bloodied cloth was seen along one of those trails, and the trail itself
stopped there.
One of the Watch raised an arm towards the newly arriving people (the
PCs) and called, "I am Sergeant Varro of the Watch. What brings you here?"

[Lennier - Old]
He bowed to Andrade somewhat self-consciously. He looked toward Nikita,
searching her expression to see how she was taking all this.
[DM - New]
Nikita looked confused and even wary. After a moment, her brow creased
expressively into a suspicious look.
[Lennier - Old]
Finally he spoke: "My name is Lennier Harmagin." He could not help his
ambiguous attitude toward his family emerge as he spoke his patronym. The
name he loathed was perhaps his best hope for eventual success. This galled
him. "I am a tradesman from a lower level of the city. I belong to a minor
family but have been disgraced through a misunderstanding." That
misunderstanding would someday be most remedied, thought Lennier. "I hoped
to join the quest for Moria with Alatar because my purse is light. I am told
that Moria holds great treasures for those who have the mettle -- or the
stupidity -- to enter in. I've not yet learned whether I have stupidity or
bravery enough to attempt the tunnels of the dwarven mountain. But if there
are enough others who are so endowed with whichever virtue suffices, perhaps
I can match them." Lennier hoped that this (somewhat lame) attempt at humour
and self-disclosure might win him at least some confidence from Andrade.
[DM - New]
Andrade stroked the sides of her chin and mused what Lennier said. "I
beg your pardon - your name does not come to my memory right now..."
Nikita still reserved her stance as that of wariness. Alatar, on the
other hand, clapped his hands and chuckled.
"Well done! That said, shall we eat with the King?" Alatar invited. He
stood up from his seat, waved his hand and motioned to the door. "Andrade, I
think you will make a capable if not great leader..."
Still facing Lennier, Andrade rolled her eyes. She turned around and
uttered, "I'm after the Balrog and to close that gateway forever, if it
exists. That's what I'm concerned about. Leading people into... what? What
would I lead into?"
Alatar stroked his beard in thought. "The faithful of Eru organizes. It
is a time for strong and capable leaders."
Andrade shook her head and looked back at Lennier and Nikita.
Nikita asked hopfully of Andrade, "I am free?"
"Yes..." Andrade said thoughtfully. "Over our meal you can tell us more
about these assassins. That is not a request, however."
Nikita blinked rapidly for a moment. She glanced once more at Lennier
and then nodded at Andrade. "I'll do that", was all she said.
Alatar tapped his staff a few times apon the marbelled floor. "I shall
meet you at our meal, then." Alatar turned to leave through the doorway.
Andrade asked, "If there is something you'd wish to share with me, now
would be the time to tell it in as few moments as possible."
Nikita shook her head. "Let's not keep our King waiting." She looked at
Lennier, smiled wonderfully at him, and placed her hand into the crook of
his arm.
OOC: Lennier, got anything to say?

OOC: Faerindel was last seen going along with the other party members who
followed King Elessar for a meal. Those of the party who went are:
Faerindel, Aeren, Daedred Fairbane, Arthwen, Anarsil, and Qadar.
IC:
King Aragorn Elessar II led those he found past marbled hallways with
large windowed areas that exposed them to the outside. A slight and
welcoming mid-spring breeze wafted to and fro among them before they
re-entered the hallways once more. Eventually he led them into a large
ballroom. He waved them through, raising a hand in gesture for them to
continue on.
Inside, there could be seen apon the walls hung tapestries that depicted
the grandest moments of history. One tapestry was newer than the rest: it
portrayed four Halflings standing in camaraderie next to the White Tree.
Four fireplaces lined two of the four walls, of which only two were active
with a strong fire.
There was a grand table gilded with ornate wooden designs and patterns,
and arrayed along it was chairs that were worthy of the table. The table was
easily 50 feet in length, and behind the chairs lay a red and black carpet
for comfortable walking. Under the table and chairs was a lush carpet meant
for comfortable footing.
Seated among four of those chairs were Dwarves who were busily partaking
in drink and light food fare. One of the chairs was seated a white robed old
man with bushy eyebrows, a long white beard, and a pointed nose.
All of the guests looked up at the newcomers.
Aragorn announced to those seated, "I present to you friends of Alatar
the Grey." Then he introduced the existing guests with a humoring smile,
"These are the descendants of the Dwarves of Moria, who are interested in
reclaiming what is theirs. There is also Gandalf the White."
Sir Fairbane bowed almost immediately, but Qadar took a stiff bow and
seemed as if he'd rather be elsewhere as he took position behind those he
could. Aeren stood in place but smiled heartily. Arthwen, who covered her
eyes, took a slight bow.
"Come, come!" Gandalf invited those who stood. King Elessar already had
taken to walking to his place at the head of the table.
King Aragorn introduced the Dwarves: Dory, Gory, Mory, and Cory of the
Clan Durin.
The Dwarves grunted their assent. More than a few of them belched loudly
in the way that Dwarves do...
"How long 'till it comes?" asked Dory.
"Iffin I waits longer than an hour I think me wifey shant recognize me
new weight!" remarked Mory as he patted his growling belly.
"This chair is taken!" roared Gory, who grabbed the chair next to him
protectively and gazed at the newcomers.
"Bah! Ya can sit here if ye aren't 'fraid for yer plate", invited Cory.
"Nar! You kin sits here iffin ya want! I'll not be party ta Cory's
treachery to leave ya hungry!" Gory said as he released the chair beside
him.
"Bad fer diplomacy" Cory said with a wink.
Gandalf continued his invite in earnest, "Sit and tell us your tales
while we await the meal. Tell us your news - and even if I heard it I
promise that I shall be glad to hear it again from a new voice!"

IC:
Aunt Sarah lived in a small house in Wooden Town, the buildings that lay
outside the walls of Moria. Most of the day had gone on as usual - Sarah had
prepared the meals, took to housekeeping, and earlier that day had gone into
the walled city to tend to the sick. Rachel had tagged along, and they spoke
of the day when they could sell their house and finally reside in Minas
Tirith, beyond the stone walls. Aunt Sarah always had a faraway and happy
look as she imagined it in her telling, and it always caught Rachel's spirit
along for the ride.
Nighttime came and fell and so the workday was over. Sarah had mentioned
she looked forward to cooking a large and well deserved meal as she patted
the coins she earned that day.
"Tomorrow we make the usual rounds around Wooden Town and tend to those
who really need our help..." Sarah remarked. They walked along the wall
towards the gate that would lead outside the last of the walls. Beyond that,
and back along the wall in the opposite direction lay the direction of
Wooden Town.
Aunt Sarah stopped. Alerted now, Rachel looked ahead: she saw that the
gate was closed. The faint sounds of raised voices could be heard, and then
a shout or two. The sound of breaking bottles was heard smashing: once, and
then a moment later, two smashes was heard.
"Keep back!" one of the Watch shouted at the crowd beyond. Another Watch
noticed the two and walked up towards them. "Sorry, ladies, there is a riot
beyond the walls. Wooden Town riots against us!"
Aunt Sarah looked stricken. She looked at Rachel. "What shall we do? I
want to go home..." She shook her head. "Perhaps we could stay somewhere
this night. Perhaps the Old Guesthouse or one of those new places - one of
the Inns I mean..."
Sarah bit her lower lip - a habit only performed when she was nervous.

"Excuse me, Sir, have they said why they riot?" Like her aunt Sarah, she knew many who wished to reside within the city proper, but had not heard any reason that they would rebel and attack the guard behind whose protective walls many wished to live.
Rachel took her aunt's hand and squeezed it gently. "Your lip," was all the admonishment she offered her aunt. Rachel knew it to be a long nervous habit when she was nervous. Her aunt smiled but stopped biting her lip.
Rachel handed Nimble's reins to her aunt. Gently rubbing Nimbles muzzle and forelock, she said to her aunt, "Take Nimble and I will meet you at the Old Guesthouse." Rachel handed her aunt her money, keeping two silver for herself. The Old Guesthouse was always clean with good food, and reasonably priced. No telling how long they may have to stay at this point.
Her aunt, worried now for her niece, began to bite her lip and quickly stopped. "Meet me? We should both go."
Rachel smiled, trying to be reassuring. "If the guard will allow it, perhaps the folk of Wooden Town will say why they riot. Most know us." Rachel didn't add that, as healers, they were generally respected for their care, even when the ill couldn't afford such treatment. Those within the city could, and helped pay for those who couldn't. Rachl always enjoyed their work in Wooden Town the more for their need.
Rachel kissed her Aunt on the cheek and hugged her before turning to the guard. She looked at him, hoping he had followed their conversation and what she intended. "If you would lead the way?"

[Isillome-New]
She had known since she interrogated the one who had attacked her,
that the assassins would have attacked here, but seeing actual signs
of violence where she had ordered her sister to stay was too much for
her. She had wanted to remain calm, but the blood on the door was
too much. 'If she is dead, I will follow her.' she thought grimly to
herself.
Before she even know it herself, she was off Star Dancer and half way
to the door. When the guards stopped her she retained just enough
presence to stop and ask in an anguished voice, "Were there any
survivors? What of the Wizard Alatar and those who were with him?
My sister..." the fear and worry choked off her voice and all she
could do was stand there, hoping and praying that her sister was
safe; not dead or worst... captured.

[GM - Old]
Andrade asked, "If there is something you'd wish to share with me, now would
be the time to tell it in as few moments as possible."
Nikita shook her head. "Let's not keep our King waiting." She looked at
Lennier, smiled wonderfully at him, and placed her hand into the crook of
his arm.
[Lennier - New]
Lennier blushed furiously at Nikita's smile. His pulse raged through his
arm, and he was sure that Nikita could feel his heartbeat even through his
thick shirt. As he led Nikita to the door that Alatar gestured toward, he
composed himself enough to whisper a joke to Nikita:
"I wish you'd stop smiling at me like that. I don't think my knees can take
much more. What are you trying to do, make me a cripple?"
<OOC: Nikita's response>
"In all seriousness, I am glad that we bought some time. When we learn what
we can of this quest, we must steal away. I am anxious to make that
rendevous that you hinted at earlier this evening!"
As usual, Lennier's speech bore a double meaning. He certainly would enjoy
meeting Nikita in a more intimate setting than the palace; but Lennier also
perceived that Nikita was a woman of rare cunning and persuasiveness. A
"business partnership" would be most interesting. Besides, he'd need help to
fulfill his mission from Millat Quarikt....

She hid her smile behind her hands as she listen to the dwarves
bicker and banter back and forth, but the Wizard's words brought back
the events of the past hour. She curtsied to the dwarves and to
Gandalf then moved to stand before her King. She curtsied down to
