Hi Everyone!
My residential move is done. Before we resume the game I need to see who is
still with us and who is not. During the move one player left of their own
accord, without explanation...

Anarsil didn't hesitate, this was what she was training for.
Kneeling beside him, she worked quickly to assess the wound and how
to proceed without causing further injury.
(OOC: I don't know the magic system all that well, and since Anarsil
is an NPC strictly, I'll leave that up to the DM).

Isillome wanted to scream. Despite her best efforts, she and her
sister had been found. Not through any mistake of hers or even a
twist of fate, but by magic. Against that, she could do nothing.
But Alatar... Yes, there in lay Anarsil's last hope.
"You shall receive your reward. The Healers shall see you, then...
the King's Justice." she told the assassin. in a calm voice before
calling out loudly, "Guards! Help! Assassins! Guards!"
(OOC: When the guard arrives, Isillome will tell him that a group of
assassins are in the city and that Alatar the Grey and any who are
with him or have dealings with him, are in danger from attack.)

Welcome back!
Brenna and I are still here, stumbling around in an inn somewhere.
Well, Brenna's in the inn - I'm stuck at work. :)

OOC: ok, so we still have Lennier, Isillome/Anarsil, Brenna so far...
Faerindel? Qadar? You've got until May 10th to respond to my recent inquiry.
The move did go well. This time I got movers. They are expensive, but they
are *so* worth it, especially when you have lots of stuff! :)
Thanks for welcoming me back! Let me prove my appreciation by continuing the
game and NOT disappearing on you.
One more thing: Isillome - did you want Anarsil to be a second PC or remain
as is?
IC:
<< Through the portal... >>
[Lennier - Old]
Lennier cast a worried frown around the party, but tried to keep a brave
face for Nikita. Still holding her hand, he turned to Anarsil and said, "I
heard back in the Inn that you were some kind of healer or something. Please
do what you can to save the wizard!"
(Observation skill 34 as he scans about the party and their location)
[Anarsil - Old]
Anarsil didn't hesitate, this was what she was training for. Kneeling
beside him, she worked quickly to assess the wound and how to proceed
without causing further injury.
[DM - New]
Almost as one, most of those who had stepped through the portal looked
around at their surroundings after sloughing off the effects of the magical
gate. Lennier, Nikita, Andrade, Sir Fairbane, Faerindel, Aeren and even
Qadar took in the sight around them. Anarsil's efforts were on the fallen
Alatar and she hunched over him as she inspected his wound. Arthwen stood by
and watched with great worry over her fallen master.
Anarsil saw that the dagger wound was bleeding freely. She quickly
chanted words of magical healing, and as she neared the magic's release she
had removed the dagger from Alatar's wound. The magic infused the flesh and
it began to close up. Anarsil then had pushed her own strength of will into
healing the man, but the wound remained slightly open and only a trickle of
blood escaped the wound. Anarsil began to bandage and dress the wound.
The company looked around themselves and saw a brightly marbled floor
with huge rugs that were a deep crimson in color. They were inside a large
expansive room that had windows that looked out into the nighttime sky. The
windows were framed with red and green curtains. Outside the window was a
familiar landmark of Minas Tirith or two, so it was surmised that they
hadn't left the city. However, they were not within the lower levels of the
city - rather, they were located at one of the topmost levels.
The room had two sets of large double doors of a dark wood finish and
gilded with gold designs. They were closed. Inside the room was a long
wooden table of similar design as the door. There was seating and places
ready for twelve, complete with utensils and plateware. The newly arrived
guests (the party) was only less than 5 feet away from this but it had been
behind them when they appeared and thus was not seen initially.
There was no one else around that was not of the party. No one stirred
from elsewhere at the moment.
<< Wizard and King Inn >>
[Brenna - Old]
(Brenna will stumble up the stairs and try and save/defend Bailey the
hobbit. To begin with she will attack with the usual 75% OB / 25% DB. If one
of her enemies is unprepared for her or cannot attack back then she will use
all of her OB against them)
[DM - New]
Brenna could see the Halfling for what he was - and he had swung his
shortsword out at the fat dwarf. Dorrd parried the blow and tried to disarm
Bailey. However, it was a ruse: Bailey's blade connected with Dorrd's
forearm and the dwarf paid for his attempt at disarming.
Brenna's spear plunged upward at the other Dwarf's back (the one clad in
chain). The spear's tip ripped through the chainmail and ripped across the
dwarf's back as he tried to roll with the blow. "Neyyargh!" the dwarf cried
out.
Momentarily Bailey's attention was on the newcomer to the battle and he
gave her a small smile of gratitude. Dorrd's blade had plunged down into the
Halfling's cheek, cut past the jawbone and seemed to go into the neck
partly. Dorrd removed the blade violently from the Halfling's head and
turned to face Brenna. Dorrd had held his shortsword blade in his other
hand... the one whose forearm wasn't bleeding profusely. He growled at the
human Paladin.
<< A Street in Minas Tirith >>
[Isillome - Old]
Isillome wanted to scream. Despite her best efforts, she and her sister
had been found. Not through any mistake of hers or even a twist of fate,
but by magic. Against that, she could do nothing. But Alatar... Yes,
there in lay Anarsil's last hope.
"You shall receive your reward. The Healers shall see you, then... the
King's Justice." she told the assassin. in a calm voice before calling out
loudly, "Guards! Help! Assassins! Guards!"
(OOC: When the guard arrives, Isillome will tell him that a group of
assassins are in the city and that Alatar the Grey and any who are with him
or have dealings with him, are in danger from attack.)
[DM - New]
The guard had stopped in place and seemed frozen for a moment. Then the
guard ran toward the sound of Isillome's voice. Apon reaching his
destination, the guard took in the sight of Isillome apon the man dressed in
black - who was bandaged over his eyes. The guard's eyes widened. He dropped
his jug (which shattered and wine spilled forth) and withdrew his sword.
"What's the meaning of this?!" the guard asked, both a question and a
demand.
Isillome tried to explain the group of assassins and the danger posed to
Alatar the Grey, but the guard blinked his eyes as she was halfway through
explaining. His voice took on a condescending tone as he interrupted, "Wait.
Get off that man. Drop your weapon and tell me again - slowly. What are you
doing with weapons anyway? Us guards not enough for you, eh?"
The guard stood in place, weapon in hand, but Isillome could see signs
of early inebriation had taken hold in him.

[Lennier - New]
Lennier sighed with relief that they had not been transported out of the
city. Hope still lingered that he might yet find Ejekk and get the ring from
him. But now that he had found his bearings and someone was treating the
Wizard's wounds, Lennier had other concerns. First among them was finding
out what happened before he arrived at the Old Guesthouse to find the Wizard
attacking Nikita.
As nonchalantly as possible, Lennier, still holding Nikita's hand, led her
away from the group, who seemed to be giving all their attention to the
Wizard. He led Nikita around to the other side of the table so that it stood
between them and the rest of the party. Walking slowly to the other end of
the table with her, he asked, "Nikita, why was the Wizard attacking you? Did
you do something to precipitate it?"
(OOC: No need to rehash details that we already know, i.e., that she
poisoned the party. I'm rather more interested in her motivations and
purposes.)

[Brenna - New]
Assessing the situation, Brenna realised her mistake. The figure on
the other side of the dwarves was not a child at all. It was a
halfling. What did they call themselves, thought Brenna. Hobbits or
some such? She had only seen a few in her travels, but heard stories
that said they had helped during the War of the Ring. In fact, wasn't
the Ringbearer himself a Hobbit!? Certainly this halfling in front of
her was brave and courageous enough to lend weight to that claim.
Whatever, the halfling was outnumbered and Brenna felt that these
dwarves were not honourable. Still, she would allow them to surrender.
Perhaps her last strike would convince them.
"Again, in the name of Araw, I say put down yer weapons", appealed
Brenna. "Harm no-one and I'll not harm you!"
Brenna held her spear out at the growling leader of this little group.
She'd see what his reaction was but if he didn't surrender she'd
attack.
[OOC: If Dorrd does not surrender and still threatens, attack him
again with 75%/25% to OB and DB].
Steve/Brenna.

[Qadar - Old]
Qadar knelt beside Anarsil, his mind still reeling a little from the
effects of the portal. His eyes met hers earnestly. "Is the master going to
be well?" he asked.
[DM - New]
Anarsil looked up at the Summoner. "He'll live I think..." She looked
over Qadar and asked, "Were you hurt at all?"
Nearby, Andrade stooped down towards Alatar and chanted her own words of
magic. Sir Fairbane and Aeren gathered together and maliciously watched
Lennier and Nikita go off away from the group. Faerindel had taken to
walking towards one of the doors.
[Lennier - Old]
As nonchalantly as possible, Lennier, still holding Nikita's hand, led
her away from the group, who seemed to be giving all their attention to the
Wizard. He led Nikita around to the other side of the table so that it stood
between them and the rest of the party. Walking slowly to the other end of
the table with her, he asked, "Nikita, why was the Wizard attacking you? Did
you do something to precipitate it?"
[DM - New]
Nikita explained with great hesitance about the poison once more. Her
words came out with care and what seemed to be guilt. Her eyes glanced back
and forth from Lennier and to Alatar. She avoided looking at Fairbane and
Aeren.
Nikita added, "It was a test. If I did well I would have been accepted
into the Dark Knives... except that when I really learned what everyone was
up to, and I thought about it, I changed my mind. I felt really guilty about
it."
Nikita raised her sword a little to make her point. "I don't feel guilty
about many things, Lennier. Not much of anything, really. But this test..."
She shook her head. "I don't know why. I can't explain it..."
Andrade's spell had worked. Alatar's wound closed even further. She got
up and looked around and stopped when she located Nikita. She had taken a
step or two towards them.
From nearby one of the doors Faerindel had warned, "Someone's coming!"
Faerindel stepped away from the door and got her bow ready. Fairbane said,
"I don't think we're in any danger. This place looks to me the city Palace."

Brenna held her spear out at the growling leader of this little group.

[DM - New]
Dorrd stopped growling. He raised his hand in a stopping gesture and his
companion also remained in place. They still took hostile battle-ready
positions but it was the fat dwarf Dorrd who spoke, "We have a stalemate,
then! Let us leave this place and we shall not harm you! We'll even let the
other one live. Let us be and we shall go..."
They stared down at Brenna with utter hate and malice. On the floor
around them was the Halfling and their previous victim - a human who had
bled from a head wound. As well, the body of an assassin lay there, too, his
wound being a deep laceration in the upper thigh. None of their blood was
flowing save that of the Halfling...

[Isillome-New]
Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Isillome rose off of
the assassin and stood facing the guard; the assassin in between
them. She kept her hands in plain sight but gestured with her head
to her sword which was in it's scabbard. "The sword on the ground
there belongs to this man who attacked me believing me to be someone
he was looking for. When I would not submit to being taken prisoner,
we fought briefly. The result of said battle was his eyes being
sliced by my sword. I bound his wound while questioning him. He
will need the attentions of the Healers if his eyesight is to be
saved."
She paused to keep her temper under control. It would not due to
anger this drunken guard any further, and yet she had to make him
understand the seriousness of what was unfolding in the City this
night. "If I had not been armed nor trained in their uses, we would
not be having this conversation. I would no doubt be either dead or
bound and gagged, heading for Harad. As to who I am, I am Isillome,
a Dunedain from the north; trained as a scout. I was one of a
handful that guarded the North while our Chieftain, and now King
Ellesar, journeyed South with the Ringbearer. I do not doubt the
value of the guards of this city. Even before the war, I have been
to this city. I know it's labors and hardships. I know the strength
of it's guardians."
"Whatever you may feel about me, I beg you to put it aside for the
moment. This city is in danger tonight. A group of assassins called
the Long Knives is attacking anyone who has dealings with the Wizard
Alatar. I was on my way to Lord Elladan at the Houses of Healing in
service to Alatar when I was waylaid. I fear for both the elven
prince and Alatar, these assassins could be striking even now at
either locations! Please, I beg you, we must act now!"

[Brenna - New]
Brenna kept her spear pointed towards the dwarf in case he attacked.
In seemed that the dwarf was going to comply and leave. Really, she
should ensure the dwarf was taken and locked away by the authorities.
However, she saw the state of the hobbit on the floor, wounded and
bleeding, and the other bodies. Although she wanted to fight the
dwarves, others were injured and needed her skills at healing.
It was a difficult decision but she made up her mind anyway. Nodding
towards the stairs she said, "Go! If yer leave now, I sha'n't attack.
But if our paths ever cross again, yer'll pay fer what yer've done".
Her anger let her rough northern accent through. She seemed almost to
growl her words rather than speak them.
Brenna then looked down at the hobbit. If the dwarf left without any
further trouble, Brenna would rush over to Bailey and assess him. Was
he still alive? How bad were his injuries? Brenna prepared to say a
prayer and channel the power of the Valar in order to heal Bailey.
She'd then tend to the others.
[OOC: Assuming the dwarf leaves, have a look at how bad Bailey is.
Cast "Flowstop 3" from Blood Law on the hobbit after just 1 rounds
preparation. If still bleeding, try Flowstop 3 again after 3 rounds of
prep and then bandage the wound. Then look at the others who have
fallen and see if they can be helped. Obviously if the dwarf still
attacks, fight back as before]

Nikita raised her sword a little to make her point. "I don't feel guilty
about many things, Lennier. Not much of anything, really. But this test..."
She shook her head. "I don't know why. I can't explain it..."
[Lennier - New]
"Yes, guilt is a complication in our business. But your guilt may well have
saved your life. I'm not sure that your attempt would have worked on a
wizard of such great power. You must tell everyone what you just told me.
Perhaps they will have pity on you and spare you. There are at least a
couple of self-righteous religious nuts here who might be pliable by such
appeals for mercy. That done, let us see whether they will accept us as part
of their mission. I'm quite sure that there is plenty of money to be made,
and the object of the quest is interesting for its own sake...."
Obviously, the Wizard was the key to his and Nikita's survival, so he turned
to the party but directed his speech to the Wizard alone and said,
"Master Wizard, thank you for providing a way of escape. And please excuse
my actions earlier. You appeared ready to harm the lady. She has explained
herself to me. At first, she purposed to harm you and those who would follow
you, but she has repented her deed and begs your pardon. Will you not hear
her out? Or has Elessar's justice been reduced to vigilanteism so soon?"

Something seemed to sober the guard with an immediate urgency. It was
plain that the guard did believe the warrior woman who stood before him. He
nodded and dropped his jug, turned on the ball of his heel and began to run
towards one of the guard towers. Behind him he had called, "I shall get
help, milady!"
The assassin remained on the ground and hadn't moved. However, the tell
tale signs of consciousness was there. "Is he gone yet?" he asked.
(After less than a minute later)
Three guards arrived, and the fourth was the original guard who had
spoken with Isillome. It was this guard who brought two horses with him.
They had a poled stretcher with them and started to bend to help the
assassin into it.
One of the guards, a lean and dark haired man with an even darker beard,
had the tone of one who was used to giving orders. He gave the order to take
the wounded man to the Healers. He watched Isillome for a moment and then
said, "We must hurry to Lord Elladan and tell him your news. Can you ride?"

Meanwhile, Aeren had fixed his eyes apon the door that Faerindel had

approaching the door from the opposite side still had some moments to arrive
yet...

Andrade halted her advance towards Lennier and Nikita after he had
spoken. It was Andrade who answered, "I gather she poisoned the drink and
yet she wishes to repent now?" Her eyes tried to burrow into Lennier's eyes
and read them, and after a moment lighted apon Nikita.
Just as Andrade's expression softened she became aware of the sound of
footsteps approaching the double doors that Faerindel had retreated from.
Her attention had then focused there after she half turned.
In fact, everyone became aware of the approaching footsteps.
Alatar groaned but his eyes remained closed.

Dorrd cautiously came down the stairs. His companion followed him. After
they had gone a couple feet past Brenna they had turned tail and ran for the
doorway like their lives depended on it. Brenna heard the warrior dwarf
muttering curses at Dorrd as they ran.
Brenna quickly went up the stairs as the dwarves ran, however, and she
assessed the Halfling. Only a moment or two allowed her to realize that he
was still alive! Brenna than channeled her power and chanted words of prayer
and power...
Brenna saw the flow of blood stem itself partially - but it was enough
to make a large difference! She tried again, this time taking more time to
focus and she repeated her words with more confidence. The flow of blood had
completely stopped. However, the Halfling's face remained a wounded mess:
there was a large sword gash that had penetrated deep into the halfling's
jaw and neck...
Brenna then saw to the others: the human was quite dead. There was the
other assassin with the leg wound. He had bled to death through it. The
whole upper landing was a literal bloody mess.

[Brenna - New]
Brenna knelt near Bailey and raised her head to the heavens. Raising
her voice slightly, she relaxed and sought out the holy energy of the
Valar.
"Holy Araw, let the light of the Valar flow through me! Give me the
strength t' heal this fallen halfling and seal his wounds. Let him
continue yer work here".
Brenna felt the presence of her god enter her, experienced the might
of his strength and the warmth of his magic. Placing her hands on the
halfling, she let the power channel through her and into Bailey's
small body.
[DM - Old]
> Brenna saw the flow of blood stem itself partially
[Brenna - New]
'It had worked!' praised Brenna. But still the wound bled. She needed
to cleanse herself of all other thoughts, open herself fully to her
god and allow more of his almighty power through her. No matter what
it took, she would not let this hobbit die by the hands of assassins.
Again she called her god, praying, beseeching him to stop the
remaining flow of blood whilst apologising for not allowing the
Valar's full energies to complete the task the first time. This time
she placed her hands near the hobbit's small neck, closer to the wound
and felt the tingling flow of faith rushed through her.
[DM - Old]
> The flow of blood had completely stopped. However, the
> Halfling's face remained a wounded mess
[Brenna - New]
Brenna rested on the floor a moment letting her mind settle back into
the normal world. She had been so close to her lord and the rest of
the Valar and had felt their love and power. It was almost
overwhelming. But now the feeling of elation was passing. Of course,
Brenna knew that her god was always with her, no matter what.
Checking on the other two, they both appeared to be dead. Brenna said
a prayer to the Valar to ensure their spirits were kept safe and then
sat next to hobbit again.
[Bailey - Old]
>> Bailey's eyes began to flutter momentarily, stopped,

[Brenna - New]
She looked at the hobbit. His wound was severe. Although she could
attempt to stitch it, here was not the place. Also, she knew that
other, more accomplished healers would do a better job of it. For now,
she bandaged the wound as best she could. As she tried her best at
covering the wound, she said to Bailey,
"Yer alive? That's good. Taking you to the healers would be a good
idea but if yer move the wound will start t' bleed again. And anyway,
I don't know where the healers are. Look, jus' wait 'ere. I'll be
back"
She got up and made her way downstairs. She approached the bar and
called for the innkeeper. When he arrived, Brenna looked the man in
the eye and explained,
"There's been a fight upstairs between some dwarves, a couple o' men
and a halfling. The men are dead and the halfling is badly wounded. I
have done what I can for him but he requires a healer. If there is a
place of healing in this city of yers, send for a healer - now!"
[OOC: Strange. The webpage had said Bailey was dead -still does in
fact. It's a miracle, 'cos he's alive! Or perhaps Brenna has just
raised a zombie? :) ]

OOC: I shall finish up the Talents for Cuthain after this post...
IC:
<Near the Wizard and King Inn>
[DM - New]
The sun had already set about an hour ago and now the nighttime sky was
filled with constellations and the stars that composed them. Cuthain had
arrived in Minas Tirith just before sunset but had wandered the city for a
time before his feet demanded a break from his meandering. Rather than
finding a temporary respite such as a tavern, Cuthain had decided to try an
Inn.
Cuthain neared the intersecting streets that lay across from the Wizard
and King Inn. As his eyes took in the sight of the Inn the doors opened up
and out came running a man dressed in black and loose fitting clothes. Half
of his face was covered with the same black material. The man did not take
the time to get his bearings - he knew where he was going because he
immediately turned direction to head down the street at a running pace.
Cuthain had a gut feeling that something bad had occurred inside that
place. Cuthain mused that hunch for a a time and waited for something else
to happen. When nothing presented itself he took a few tentative steps
towards the Inn and eventually entered.
Inside the Inn Cuthain saw what seemed the scant remains of a fight on
the main floor. Most of the evidence was wholly upstairs, and evidence there
was! Blood had dripped and pooled onto some of the upper steps. The blood
had darkened to a deep red.
At the bar was a muscular woman. She bore a spear and was very unkempt.
In the instant that Cuthain saw her he could see that she was rather ugly
and seemed of middle age. Despite that, there was something about her
presence that seemed to inspire a sort of trust. Besides, she had ordered:
[Brenna - Old]
"...the halfling is badly wounded. I have done what I can for him but he
requires a healer. If there is a place of healing in this city of yers, send
for a healer - now!"
[DM - New]
The bartender had come out from under the bar. He had apparently been
hiding during the fight. Now exposed and on his feet, the bartender eyed
Brenna carefully. He murmured an answer at first but his words stumbled all
over themselves.
The bartender cleared his throat and said with more clarity, "Thar be a
Healer upstairs... if the 'sassins din git to 'im first! A Naugrim Healer,
nar from aroun' 'ere! I gets someone ta fetch one from da Houses..."
Rather quickly, the bartender moved towards the doors that led to the
kitchen...
[Bailey - Old]
Trying to use as little energy as possible, Bailey used his legs and the
heel of his boots to slide himself over to the dead assassin.
[DM - New]
Bailey managed to move once or twice with his heels, but afterward he
felt a sharp pain in his neck. Acting purely on reaction, Bailey had stopped
his movement. His neck's throbbing had increased twofold, and the pain
doubled to his threshold.

Watching the bartender flee out of the room, Cuthain tried to grasp the
events unfolding rapidly before him. The man dressed in black that had fled
the Inn as he arrived, along with the mention of "assassins" by the
Innkeeper, made his hand itch for the haft of his hand axe. Quickly his eyes
found those of the muscular woman standing at the bar. By her comment to the
bartender, someone was wounded nearby and badly so. While never one to
blindly trust anyone, there was something about this woman that Cuthain
found at least slightly reassuring.
"Milady" Cuthain greeted her in a low tone accompanied by a quick nod. "Let
us find that Naugrim Healer..."

[Brenna - New]
It took Brenna a moment to understand the man. His thick southern
accent sounded harsh to her. But she did catch something about a
'Naugrim healer' upstairs. She'd heard that word before, Naugrim, but
it had been awhile. It was from the elves of the Greenwood. Elvish for
dwarf. Was the barman an elf? No, he didn't have their grace and
beauty.
Brenna watched the man dart out towards the back of the inn. She had
the distinct impression the man could not be trusted. It almost looked
like he was running away.
[Cuthain - Old]
> "Milady" Cuthain greeted her in a low tone accompanied by a quick
> nod. "Let us find that Naugrim Healer..."
For a second, Brenna had assumed the man was talking to someone else.
But he was looking at her. She turned to face him. He looked tired, a
little grubby and slightly haggard. His hair, beard and clothes were
certainly unkempt.
Brenna smiled. Much like herself then!
"My name's Brenna. And as for the *dwarf* healer, it were dwarves that
caused this bloody mess. Still perhaps there's a differen' dwarf up
there who doesn't attack on sight, eh? Let us see"
Brenna turned and headed back up the stairs, being careful on the
blood-covered, slippery steps. At the top, she saw that Bailey had
moved and was now in greater pain. She approached him.
"Ach, by the light of Elbereth! Halfling, I told yer not to move. The
wound will reopen".
A mouse with red fur suddenly popped out of her pocket and squeaked.
"Yes, yes. I'll try and help him. Now shush". She turned to Cuthain.
"Please look for this healer. I'll try and help the hobbit some more".
She crouched down next to Bailey and again started to pray. Perhaps a
simple prayer of healing would help?
[OOC: Brenna will take a couple of rounds to cast Healing I from the
Holy Healing list on Bailey].
Steve/Brenna.

"My name's Brenna. And as for the *dwarf* healer, it were dwarves that

who doesn't attack on sight, eh? Let us see"
Brenna turned and headed back up the stairs, being careful on the
blood-covered, slippery steps.
[Cuthain - New]
"I'm Cuthain" the new arrival replied as he followed Brenna up the stairs.
The sickly sweet smell of blood reached him and memories of other times and
places came to him unbidden. It was all too familiar. He'd seen too much
blood, too much death, for one of his years. Too many forces in the world
shed the blood of innocents for personal enjoyment or gain. Those foes
deserved a fate so cruel even he could not devise it...
[Brenna - Old]
At the top, she saw that Bailey had moved and was now in greater pain. She
approached him.
"Ach, by the light of Elbereth! Halfling, I told yer not to move. The wound
will reopen".
A mouse with red fur suddenly popped out of her pocket and squeaked.
"Yes, yes. I'll try and help him. Now shush".
[Cuthain - New]
Cuthain paused just behind Brenna, looking at the carnage from the attack.
He looked intently at the dead assassin, trying to find anything that would
bring a flicker of memory. Nothing came to him immediately and he turned his
attention to the fallen halfling. It did not take a surgeon to know his
wounds were grievous. He turned away from the wounded man, not out of
disrespect, but because he reminded Cuthain of his missing son...
[Brenna - Old]
She turned to Cuthain. "Please look for this healer. I'll try and help the
hobbit some more".
[Cuthain - New]
"Of course..." he replied, moving toward the rooms. With practiced ease, he
brought his handaxe to bear. He was uncertain of who the enemy was or where
he lurked. His heart beat quickened and his eyes more attentive. All
feelings of exhaustion left his limbs.
He began approaching the first door, knocked upon it with his free
hand."Healer? Are you in there? You are needed" in a deep, resonant voice.
He would approach each room in the same manner, entering those where he got
no reply. He knew he must hurry to aid the wounded hafling...

Everyone's attention was focussed on the door and the approaching footsteps.
Lennier wanted to buy time, but how? The wizard had swooned, and we need him
to explain our presence here. Lennier observed the cityscape visible from
the windows to determine where they were. Then, he began to mutter an
incantation to lock the door. His hands and forehead began to warm from the
exertion of power. Finally, he released the spell.

Taking the normal two rounds to cast before releasing the spell. Note that
if the door opens before the spell is released, Lennier stops casting.)

[DM - New]
So Lennier's questions had seemingly fallen on deaf ears... or had it?
Alatar opened his eyes but a little, focused apon Lennier, and hoarsely
whispered, "I hear the plea for mercy... Allow that Andrade will hear the
tale and make the call for justice..."
Anarsil heard what Alatar said. So did anyone else who was immediately
nearby. Lennier had strained to listen but he did catch what was said...
Meanwhile, the double doors that led into the room had opened. A lone
figure stepped through, took yet another step, and then halted immediately.
His face held an expression of unexpected surprise. His head was framed with
moderate length dark brown hair and a thinned beard. A gold, mithril and
platinum crown framed the top of his head. His clothing was of high quality
clothing of a royal nature. Around his waist was a weapon belt that held a
very ornate scabbard which in turn sheathed a large blade. Anyone who loved
in Minas Tirith knew who this man was apon sight - it was King Aragorn
Elessar.
"What is the meaning of this?" Aragorn asked. His eyes darted about
those present here. His eyes had widened when they rested apon Alatar.

Ooops. Looks like we both emailed this at roughly the same time.
The doors opened before he could get off the spell.

[Isillome - Old]
"Yes, I can." Isillome whistled for Star Dancer, who had remained just
a few yards away. She mounted her saddle-less horse with graceful ease once
Star Dancer cantered up to her side. "Word should be sent to Alatar at the
Old Guesthouse, and to the dwarves who are hiring people to go to the Mines
of Moria as well. I know not how many of these Dark Knives there are but I
fear that we have more on our hands than a mere handful."
[DM - New]
The apparent Captain of the Guard nodded his agreement. "I'll ride with
you in order to speed your access, milady!"
Together Isillome and the Guard rode into the properties of the Houses
of Healing. The Guard managed as he promised, and made for quicker access
into the Houses as he more or less outranked the other guards there. For
those he did not outrank (which was also a fair amount) he claimed an
emergency.
Isillome eventually made it into a courtyard where Lord Elladan was
present. They had searched a few places where he might have been before
that, but without success.
Lord Elladan turned around, saw who approached him and half smiled. When
he noticed Isillome's expression that smile disappeared. He waited for
Isillome to speak first and his attention was fully apon her.

Lennier did his best to remain inconspicuous behind the table. He hoped that
Elessar would not recognize him as related to Gorandor Harmagin. Lennier
knew that it was unlikely that Elessar had met his father Gorandor in
person, but given his father's shameless scrabbling for power, one could
never be too sure. Lennier tried to guess who would answer for the group.
"Probably the mouthy broad with the sword," he thought. "The self-righteous
defender of all that is holy."

Brenna's prayer, faith and willpower was channeled through her being and
outward into the grievous wound. It had closed up ever so slightly, a minute
portion had healed.

It was the third door on the right side of the hallway that opened up to
reveal a guestroom. It had been the same as the others: a bed, a chifferobe,
and a large chest that doubled as a seat for a small table set against the
wall. It was beyond the bed that Cuthain saw what seemed to be a small man
who half lay and half crouched apon the floor
